  1. Question #1
Alcoholism is a huge social issue in Dreamsleeves. Aislinn's dad (Roe) is an alcoholic. I feel like he truely does love Aislinn, but his drinking makes A (Aislinn) think he doesn't. Roe comes home drunk every night, and he drinks way to much during the day. Peer pressure is another social issue in Dreamsleeves. Sue Ellen tells A that she won't be in the "in" club if she doesn't smoke a cigarette, drink a can of beer, and kiss boy. I think A caves into doing these things because her Maizey (her best friend) wants to be "in" also, and she's doing it.

    Question #2
In Dreamsleeves, by Coleen Murtagh Paratore, A is determined to get her dad to stop drinking. She'll do anything to get him to quit. In The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Katniss (the main character) is determined to win the Games for her little sister, Prim. Katniss even volunteers as tribute to go into the Hunger Games for her sister when she gets picked. I can tell A is determined to get her dad to stop drinking because she shows the priest her dream. She goes through so much to get her dad to stop drinking. She tries to replace his alcohol with iced tea, but it doesn't work. Katniss and Aislinn are both determined because they won't stop at anything.

  2. QUESTION #1
The main social issue in Dreamsleeves is alcoholism. The main character A, her dad is an alcoholic. Roe (A's dad) once drank a whole bottle of liquor in one day. One time he even threw up blood because he drank so much the night before.
This affects his family because he is a whole different person when he drinks. When Roe drunks he abuses A, he pushes and hits her.

    QUESTION #2
Dreamsleeves is like Gossamer because both A and John get abused by their dads. A's dad made her bleed when he slapped her face. He did this because a boy came over with flowers for A.
In Gossamer John is also abused by his dad. Duane (John's dad) made John eat dog food because he was a baby and he was running around the house naked. He also broke John's arm one night because he was
drinking. Both A and John have abusive and alcoholic fathers.

  3. QUESTION #1
The social issue in "Dreamsleeves" is definitely alcoholism. roe (Aislinn's dad) is an alcoholic. Roe used to drink a lot and only get drunk on the weekends, but he keeps drinking more, and more. You can tell he is an alcoholic because he drinks when he wakes up in the morning, during the day, and laying on the couch, watching T.V. and getting drunk at night. also, Aislinn wakes up in the morning to the sound of her dad puking in the bathroom. Also, you can tell he is an alcoholic because he coughs up blood because he drinks so much. He probably wouldn't cough up blood if it was just like one beer with dinner.

    QUESTION #2
In "Dreamsleeves" by Coleen Murtagh Paratore, A's dad has a drinking problem. He doesn't let A leave the house except for daily chores.
In a book I read independently called "Glimpse", the main character, Hope's, mom has a drinking problem too. Hope's mother's drinking problem is not nearly as bad as A's father's drinking problem. But Hope's mother also always keeps one of her kids at home. While Hope is out running around, having fun with her best friend Mari, Hope's older sister Liz, is stuck at home "working" with her mother.

  4. QUESTION 1:
One of the main social issues in Dreamsleeves is alcoholism. Alcoholism because A (aka Aislinn) is the main character in the story and all she wants is for her dad to stop drinking because her dad is an alcoholic and he treats her badly when he is drinking. Like when he hit her when Mike came. Mike is a boy that likes A and A likes him back. But the problem is that A's dad said "no boys until she graduates High School." So he gets angry when Mike came with flowers in his hand for A. Another social issue in Dreamsleeves is abuse. Abuse because A's dad got angry and pushed her mom into a metal bar. Also he hit A so hard that her lip started to bleed.
    QUESTION 2:
In Dreamsleeves by Coleen Murtagh Paratore A just wants to be free from her father and have her mother stand up for her. I think that John from Gossamer is like A because he wants his mother to stand up for him and not let his father treat them badly, and he wants to feel free from his dad. Because his dad abuses him like when he treated him like a dog and made him eat dog food. A's dad abuses her because he drinks and it makes him change into a "whole different dad" as A says.
