  1. QUESTION 1
One of the main social issues is homelessness. In my book How to Steal a Dog by Barbara O'Connor Georgina the main character is homeless.
She lives in a car with her mom and her brother Toby. All she has is a garbage bag full of most of her stuff. Part of the reason she is homeless is because her father left them with only a little bit of money which didn't help them at all. Georgina's mom tries to get money for a house but it takes a very long time. At night Georgina curls up in all ball on the floor of the car because there isn't room anywhere else. That must be a very hard way to live.
    QUESTION 2
In How to Steal a Dog by Barbara O'Connor Georgina's father leaves them. I think this hurt her because her best friend Luanne didn't know until Georgina started crying and told her everything in a parking lot. This reminds me of Jessica from Because of Mr.Terupt because her father also them and she never told anyone except for Jeffery. Jessica and her mom moved from California to Connecticut. They moved because Jessica's dad started going out with an "air headed bimbo" as Jessica put it. So both Georgina and Jessica must have felt abandoned by their fathers.

    1. I think that Georgina is also like John because his father left him and he hasn't told anyone but the old woman and his mom.

  2. OUESTION 1
In the book How to Ssteal a Dog by Barbara O'Connor one of the social issues is homelessness. It's homlessness because Georgina ,Toby and their mom live in a car. They live in a car because their dad left them and took everything with him.Georgina's mom is trying to get enough money to get a place to line in. When she gets the place she getsn kicked out of it.

    OUESTION 2
In How to Steal a Dog the main chacracter Georgina stole a dog and took it away from it's owner. She did this because she saw a reward sign for $500 but she didn't see one for the dog she stole. She also did this because her family lives in a car and doesn't have enough money for a house. So she thought she would give the dog back and get the money. In the book Nory Rayn's Song the main character Nory gets coins to go buy food. When she had the food and the package her sister Maggie had sent her in her hands a guy followss her home and sneaks up behind her and steals the food and the package from Nory. He did this because he saw her ans he offered her some nuts and she said no. So he was mad because no one was buying from him.So he followed her home and took her stuff.

  3. QUESTION1
One social issue in the book is loneliness. One reason is that Carmella has no one. She isn't married and she has no children. Once she was sitting down in her messy house crying because she didn't have Willy and she didn't have the money for the $500 reward. Her house is messy because she doesn't have anyone to tell her to clean up. Or to get her act together. Another example of loneliness in How To Steal A Dog is Georgina'a mom because her husband kicked her out of there apartment. Also because she only has Georgina and Toby who bother her sometimes. Also Mookie because he is homeless and doesn't know anybody.

  4. QUESTION 2
In "How To Steal A Dog" by Barbara O'Connor, one important character is Carmella who is really lonely. One reason she is lonely is because she has no one, no husband, no child. Carmella and the lonely women from "Gossamer" are the same because the lonely women has no husband or child, only a dog. Mr.Terupt from "Because of Mr.Terurt " is also similar because when he was at the hospital he had no family there at all.

  5. QUESTION 1

In 'How to Steal a Dog' homelessness is a social issue because Georgina and her family live in a car with nothing. When she sees how other peoples lives are, she gets jealous. So she gets an idea to steal a beloved dog.
Mookie is also homeless and he doesn't even have a car to stay in- he sleeps on the ground!!!! He also teaches Georgina a lesson that somethings are more important than money. Like caring about other peoples feelings and needs not just your own. He wanted her to bring back Carmella's dog, even though she "needed" the money

    QUESTION 2
In 'How to Steal a Dog', desperation is one social issues because the main character Georgina stole a beloved dog to get a reward. In 'Nory Ryan's Song', desperation is also a theme because the towns people broke the glass to the bakery to get some bread. Georgina and the towns people both weren't thinking about other peoples feelings and did what they wanted.
