Social Issue Book Clubs Presentations

During Reader's Workshop each group read a book and was asked to identify the social issues (themes) and author's message.  In addition to the themes and author's message, each group focused on making inferences about the main characters in their books.  While reading they meet frequently for book talks to discuss inferences, predictions, themes, and opinions about the story.
As a culminating activity, they were asked to create a Keynote presentation using the i-pads to present their books to the whole class.  Ask your child what book group they were in and click on the book below to view a copy of their Keynote project.

In addition to creating Keynote presentations, each student was asked to make a comment to the Social Issue Book Club Post for their book.  If you scroll down and view older posts, you can find the title of the book along with two questions they were asked to answer.  You can click on comments and view the postings of the students and their virtual discussion about the books.  They made many insightful and thoughtful comments, I was impressed by their efforts as I am sure you will be.
